Why I am going to vote the way I am
Sunday, October 26th, 2008If anybody but me cares, here is why I am going to vote the way I am:
The Republicans should lose this presidential election because during the last 8 years under the Bush administration America has changed from the world’s only true superpower, with generally good intentions, into a very diminished power with often questionable intentions. This all may not be Bush’s fault, but it all happened on his watch. John McCain may not be Bush, but his party deserves to be booted out of office, as a repudiation of the diminishment of America. America is still the best country in the world under any criteria that are important to me, but it has been greatly diminished over the last 8 years. We need to give a Democratic president the opportunity to reverse that process. I agree with almost all of the bona fide bad things people say about Barrack Obama, but he is the alternative to allowing the party that presided over this great country’s devaluing to continue in office. I have fears that Obama is going to attempt some dumb-ass things, but so would McCain. One more thing, Sarah Palin is an embarrassment. Any doubts I may have had about whom I am going to vote for were completely dispelled by observing Governor Palin’s demeanor over the last 8 weeks.
